CRA board discusses property acquisitions to advance Park Avenue vision; schedules Jan. 27 workshop

CRA staff opened a discussion about implementing elements of the Park Avenue vision plan, telling the board that one objective in the plan was to allocate CRA funds this year to acquire properties in the immediate vicinity of Park Avenue and that appraisals have been obtained.
A board member asked whether the properties would be purchased with CRA funds and staff confirmed they would. Multiple members said the board has not fully settled on a shared vision for Park Avenue and urged a deeper conversation that includes residents. “I would love to have a workshop with the council to discuss exactly what our vision moving forward is,” one board member said.
The board agreed to schedule a workshop on Jan. 27 at 4 p.m.; members discussed possibly dividing available time so stormwater and CRA topics are each allotted an hour. Staff said the workshop provides an opportunity to involve residents and the council before pursuing acquisitions or other implementation steps.
