Superintendent Jamie Kraatz told the board she attended the Mid-Winter Superintendent Conference in Grand Rapids and highlighted sessions on artificial intelligence and technology. Kraatz described recent professional development focused on district initiatives and restorative practices and said she will be the keynote speaker at a Realtor Key Learning event on Feb. 5.
She promoted district events: a support staff job fair scheduled for Jan. 29 at the Arrowwood Conference Center and a unified basketball game at Heritage High School the following evening. Kraatz also noted that the E-Sports Room at Heritage High School is under development and said the facilities team will compile Hendrick’s facilities-needs study results for board review ahead of bond discussions. An enrollment study will occur after the next count day in February; a Steering Committee meeting is scheduled at Sherwood Elementary with an MSBO presentation on school funding and WTA walking through the needs assessment. Kraatz confirmed the district's EAGLE safe drinking water plan is complete and in compliance and that a Sherwood heating issue has been resolved.
