Student leaders report $4,000 fundraiser; superintendent highlights facilities work and community programs

Student board member Audrey Espinoza told the board the 20th Amazing Race took place last Friday and raised over $4,000; she also noted a successful Shoebox Project, a door-decorating contest and that exams will start after winter break. Alex Jaffe reported on DECA and HOSA competition successes, student leadership activities, and ongoing college-and-career readiness outreach.
Superintendent Jamie Kraatz reported that Bell Landscaping completed work on the Heritage stadium field before winter and that Hemmeter Elementary sidewalk issues were addressed. Kraatz also shared a flyer for a skilled trades and FAFSA event open to the public, said she will appear on WNEM TV5 on Dec. 23 for an "Every Student Every Day" segment, announced Senior Passes for Saginaw Township residents 62+ to access concerts and athletic events, and said Freeland Sports Zone offered its softball field at no charge in exchange for volunteer mini-camp helpers and chalk donations.
