The Lucas City Council authorized the mayor to execute an updated interlocal cooperation agreement (ILA) for automatic fire and EMS assistance with the City of Wylie.
Fire leadership (speaker 43) explained the ILA updates: Wylie recently established its own EMS capabilities and the version before council adds recognition of Wylie's special response teams (hazmat and technical rescue) that Lucas may call on. The chief noted the cover page should show 2024 (not 2023) and that Parker and other neighboring cities had approved similar agreements; the city attorney had reviewed the document.
Council moved and approved authorization for the mayor to execute the Wylie-Lexus ILA; the agreement bolsters regional emergency response cooperation and formalizes automatic assistance expectations between neighboring departments.
