Bremer County supervisors voted to approve a lease that will allow Collaborative Individual and Community Support (CICS) to occupy two offices and use shared conference space in the county annex.
Russell, speaking for CICS, described the agency’s services across 44 counties and explained the organization’s role in long‑term supports and options counseling for people with disabilities. He told the board that CICS’s budget had dropped significantly as its geographic footprint expanded, limiting its ability to seed startup providers but not its ability to provide information and navigation services. "So CICS is 1 of the 4 former regions that was given contracts to do disability access points with the Department of Health and Human Services for the state of Iowa," Russell said.
Board discussion covered space, hours, and cost. The board described the initial rent as $150 per room — $300 total per month — with the possibility of revisiting that rate during the next fiscal year. County staff confirmed the county attorney had reviewed lease terms and a supervisor moved to approve; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Russell offered to sign the lease immediately and the board agreed to finalize paperwork.
The lease approval includes basic shared‑utilities arrangements and access control (fobs) to be coordinated with county staff.
