CDD discusses long-term storm surge resilience; board names representatives to coordinate

Eric Long told the Board Pelican Sound is developing a 5–10 year action plan to build resilience against storms and climate-change impacts, including an advisory/review panel and multi-agency coordination. Long urged the CDD to designate a Board representative and staff or engineering contact to help coordinate with partners such as the Army Corps of Engineers if funding becomes available.
Long described a hypothetical topographic analysis showing that a 10–12 foot storm surge could have flooded 45%–55% of the community in a past scenario. The Board agreed that Mr. Long and Mr. Merrill would assist with the initiative and that District Engineer Charlie Krebs is authorized to help as needed.
