County emergency and sheriff praise coordinated response to Damascotta marina explosion

The EMA director described the chaotic early hours and the county’s on-scene support, saying the incident "was very well handled across starting from our comm center to all of the responding agencies that were there."
The EMA director detailed actions the county provided: traffic control using cones and barricades, water for responding crews, accountability/tagging of firefighters and logistical support so departments could rotate coverage. The Sheriff added the department provided traffic control and drone support to help firefighters monitor heat signatures and scene safety. "We were also able to... provide drone support for the firefighters on the ground during the event," the sheriff said. Officials estimated 8–10 departments assisted; speakers described no reported mass casualties and applauded interagency coordination.
Commissioners thanked responders and asked follow-up questions about mutual aid and resources; staff noted lessons learned from prior incidents had fed into this response and that the county would track any needed equipment or training updates.
