Superintendent Mister Garcia opened the June 9 meeting by asking the board and community to observe a moment of silence for the "tragic loss of several young lives" and emphasized the depth of district grief after "the loss of 5 young people at once." He thanked staff for year-end events and noted the district's wellness centers and support services available to students.
Garcia told trustees that the district evaluated the feasibility of placing a facilities bond on the November 2026 ballot after discussions with school site staff, community outreach, and a survey of likely voters. "Based on that assessment, November 2026 is not the optimal time to pursue a bond," he said, and added the district will continue outreach over the next two years and reassess placing a bond measure on the 2028 ballot. He also listed retirees by name and congratulated graduating students and staff on a successful school year.
