Board approves moving NRS 327 geodetic-datum updates forward to bill drafting

The Board’s PLS Standards of Practice subcommittee reviewed proposed amendments to Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 327 to conform state law with nationally adopted geodetic datum updates and recommended the changes to the full Board.
A motion to accept the proposed revisions and advance them in the bill-draft process passed. Executive Director Mark Fakler and the subcommittee noted the technical nature of the changes and scheduled an April public workshop to gather stakeholder feedback before finalizing language for the Legislative Counsel Bureau and the Legislature.
The subcommittee also scheduled a March 23 meeting to consider a Division of Minerals regulation (NAC 522.210 section 2) raised in public comment and to develop a recommended Board opinion for the April interim meeting. The Board’s action moves the geodetic-datum revisions into the formal bill-draft pipeline.
