The Select Board approved a warrant for a Special Town Meeting scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 21, to consider two items: authorizing an easement for 60 Lowell Street LLC to install geothermal wells (from Hartford down to 150 & 154 Congress Street) provided the easement will not impair public use of Lowell Street and parts of the parking lot; and to appropriate $275,000 from capital accounts to replace the parks department building next to the skating rink. Pepin motioned to approve placing these items on the warrant; DiConzo seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
The easement item includes a condition that installation of geothermal wells not impair the public's ability to use Lowell Street or portions of the parking lot under terms established by the Select Board. The parks building item specifies a $275,000 appropriation from capital accounts for replacement of the facility.
