Two competing proposals presented for Morrish Elementary

Two proposals for the future of Morrish Elementary were presented to the board on June 25 but the board took no formal action at the meeting.
Tyler Rossmasler of Flint & Genesee Economic Development presented "a proposal to purchase Morrish Elementary," and Dave Lurvey presented "a proposal to build a new elementary building in place of Morrish." The presenters described different options for the site; the board asked for additional information and indicated it would take bids before making any commitment.
Board members later clarified next steps in public comments: Kim Winter said the district would take bids on a new building and was not committed to using Lurvey; Andrea Fick noted the district had not signed nondisclosure agreements and said that if the district does not sell Morrish, any replacement construction would take place around the district's 9.2 acres. Board members did not vote on either proposal at this meeting.
