Council approves conditional-use permit for 24/7 veterinary emergency hospital in Drexel Town Square

The Oak Creek Common Council approved a conditional-use permit for a 24-hour Veterinary Emergency Group facility to occupy a 4,800-square-foot tenant space at 7935 South Main Street in Drexel Town Square. Community development director Christie Lane told the council the parcel sits in a Drexel Town Square mixed-use planned-development district and that animal hospitals in that zoning district require conditional-use approval for emergency-only operations.
Lane said the application includes conditions requiring soundproofing of demising walls, no outdoor dog runs or play areas, and a maximum of 25 household pets on-site at any one time. "This is for emergency-only care. It's not routine care," Lane said. Applicant Sean Phelan said plan-review approvals are complete and that permitting is in progress, with an anticipated ground-breaking around late summer. The council adopted the approving resolution by roll call.
