The Town of Plevna council approved its FY24/25 municipal budget on Sept. 9, setting total expenses at $113,000 and adopting a plan to spend an additional $40,000 on community projects. Councilwoman Promise Miller moved to approve the budget “with the expectation of spending an additional $40,000 towards community projects,” and Councilman Jason Oberlander seconded; the motion carried on a 4‑0 roll call.
Clerk/Treasurer Ashley Martin and former clerk Krista Nemitz reviewed line‑item changes and recommended transfers from enterprise funds into an R&D account to cover capital and planning needs. The council was told the general fund currently has excess cash but is constrained by the rule that a municipality cannot carry over more than 50% of budgeted cash reserves, and that excess must be allocated or spent during the fiscal year. No outside grant revenue is expected this year beyond restricted funds already held.
