Kent Fleischmann reviewed the city's current 800 dekatherm-per-day Tallgrass Interstate Gas Transportation reservation and outlined options to lower the reservation level—candidates included 700 or 750 dekatherms per day. He warned that reducing the reservation could produce annual savings but carries risks such as overage penalties, potential inability to restore capacity quickly and impacts during extreme events.
Council voted to table Resolution 9-2026 until the Aug. 3, 2026 meeting and requested additional historical usage information, including data from the 2006 ice storm, to inform any decision about reducing reservation levels. The tabling motion passed unanimously (4–0).
