Assistant superintendent highlights AI summit, Beyond Basics plans and PBIS agreement for board review

Assistant Superintendent Melanie Depray Learst reported several curriculum and program items, including that "The District's AI task force will present at the Michigan Virtual AI summit on October 15, 2025," per the meeting minutes. She also told the board that Title II, III and IV awards have not yet been released to districts and staff are monitoring federal budget developments that could affect next year’s grants.
Learst said the board will consider Beyond Basics service-delivery plans for Daly and Thorne elementary schools and a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) agreement with Wayne RESA at the Sept. 25 regular meeting. The items were presented for board awareness at the work-study session; any approvals or contract language will be addressed at the next meeting.
