Tessa Borquez, representing Alacrity Destination Services and speaking for the Upstate California Film Commission, briefed the council on regional film activity.
"In the 1st quarter, we hosted 4 productions... bringing in an estimated 585,000 in local economic impact," Borquez said, summarizing the year's early results. She said productions supported 27 local businesses (hotels, restaurants), generated new project inquiries and left a positive impression at regional festivals; she also highlighted the return of the Sundial Film Festival and recent representation at the Sonoma International Film Festival.
Borquez emphasized that film production can boost rural economies and create local crew and vendor opportunities. The presentation included website and social metrics demonstrating increased interest in the region as a filming location.
