At the Aug. 3 meeting the Borough Council adopted Ordinance 28-07, a bond ordinance providing an appropriation of $850,000 for the design and resurfacing of South Midall Street and Washington Place. Mayor Brian Gallagher read the ordinance language and explained the appropriation supports design and resurfacing work.
Council members approved the ordinance on a roll-call vote. A council speaker noted that the resurfacing project is tied to a federally funded grant process that requires state and federal review and a full-time construction inspector; bids are due Aug. 12 and the timeline was projected as late fall or early spring depending on approvals.
In discussion a council member said the timing of traffic-control hours related to a nearby cannabis facility motivated part of the ordinance's scheduling language so the new work aligns with commercial activity. The ordinance passed by roll call without amendments.
