Travel board formalizes $5,000 Onyx partnership for trail signage project

The Emery County Travel Board voted to formalize a partnership agreement with Onyx to support the AirPiance trail signage grant project. Staff said Onyx will provide $5,000 toward the signage effort and the county will organize a volunteer project to deliver part of the work.
A staff member explained: “they will provide us with $5,000 towards the project. And in return, we will plan a volunteer project.” Board members clarified the payment is a one-time contribution tied to the project; the grant itself runs up to two years for staffing but Onyx’s payment is immediate and project-specific. Lacey moved to approve the agreement and Commissioner Jensen seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said the volunteer project is already underway with Forest Service and county partners coordinating seasonal crews and volunteers. The board did not place additional conditions on the partnership.
