Chad Thompson of the Midwest Assistance Program (MAP) presented GIS options to the council, describing two choices: static 'still' maps MAP would produce under grant funding at no charge to the town, or a 'live mapping' subscription that the town could use for ongoing asset tracking. Thompson said the live option would cost about $500 a year — broken down in his presentation to $400 per year to Ezrie for the mapping platform and $100 per year to MAP for administration.
Thompson said MAP operates across several states but his work focuses on Montana, and he emphasized that the usefulness of the system grows with the amount of data the town adds, including manufacturer names, dates and photos attached to each asset. The council heard there would be no upfront MAP charge for creating static maps and that MAP's services rely on external grant funding.
