Engineer outlines lining and replacement options for Plevna’s clay sewer mains

At a Jan. 28 public meeting, Brosz Engineering’s project engineer described two common approaches to rehabilitating Plevna’s largely clay-tile sewer mains: open-cut replacement with PVC and cured-in-place pipe lining (CIPP).
"Or 2) do what's called a CIP (cured in place pipe). With that it's actually felt that is soaked in resin and they blow it through the pipe and then they run stieve or hot water through it to cure it and then it's like a brand new pipe," said Rylan Limesand, describing the lining process and its structural intent. The engineer said the town’s existing camera footage will help determine where lining is feasible and where full replacement or manhole rehabilitation will be required; he added the PER will design liners to a specific design life.
