Plevna moves to pursue planning grant to evaluate aging sewer mains

Plevna officials agreed Jan. 28 to pursue a Community Development Block Grant planning award to produce a preliminary engineering report (PER) that would guide repairs to the town’s aging clay-tile sewer mains.
"So with this grant, it's called the CDBG, it's a community development block grant. So your proposal for the sewer system falls within the guidelines for this grant," said Jaime Shanks, community development specialist with Eastern Plains Economic Development, describing EPEDC’s role as the point organization for grant work in Fallon and Carter counties. Project engineer Rylan Limesand told the council the PER is the planning step that would allow the town to apply later for construction funding: "With that PER, that PER could be used to apply for infrastructure funding through the state."
