On July 21 the Alexandria Public Schools Board adopted a package of district policies affecting employees and students. Policies adopted included Policy 400 (Employee Resignation), Policy 401 (Equal Employment Opportunity), Policy 402 (Disability Nondiscrimination), Policy 403 (Discipline, Suspension and Dismissal of School District Employees), Policy 404 (Employment Background Checks), Policy 405 (Veteran’s Preference), Policy 406 (Public and Private Personnel Data), Policy 407 (Employee Right to Know – Exposure to Hazardous Substances), Policy 408 (Subpoena of a School District Employee). The board also approved immediate adoption of additional policies under Policy 208 authority, including Policy 414 (Mandated Reporting), Policy 418 (Drug‑Free Workplace/Drug‑Free School), Policy 501 (School Weapons Policy), Policy 503 (Student Attendance), Policy 515 (Protection and Privacy of Pupil Records) and Policy 516 (Student Medication and Telehealth).
The policy adoptions were included in the consent agenda and approved as presented in a single motion that passed unanimously. The board did not record extended debate on these items in the meeting minutes; administrative staff will implement revisions and post updated policy documents as required.
