The board voted to approve a set of administrative employment changes and an organizational restructuring that the superintendent said is intended to streamline district operations and save money. The plan eliminates two coordinator positions, creates two directors (K–5 and 6–12) under a teaching-and-learning model, and establishes a deputy-superintendent/information-and-strategy position to consolidate transportation, technology, student-information systems and communications.
Tanya said earlier reconfigurations have produced savings "so far, not us over $400,000 in savings, from the district office staff," and argued spreading operational responsibilities out of curriculum and instruction would let new directors focus on instruction and visibility in buildings. Board members asked about salary ranges (district staff cited $125k–$130k range for director positions), licensing and workload for the deputy role, and requested further breakdowns of salary vs. benefits for the new information-and-strategy officer (an increase of about $43,000 was discussed in benefits/salary context).
Trusting the personnel committee recommendation and an amended closed-session motion, the board approved employment of the administrators as presented. Members asked administration to provide more detailed role descriptions and salary/benefit breakdowns prior to hiring and to return with the staffing plan in March.
