Tom Bookholz announced during the Silver Falls School District board meeting that he will resign his Zone 7 seat effective Aug. 31. "I'm resigning my Silver Falls Scribe Board position for Zone 7 effective August 31," Bookholz said, citing business commitments and a lack of time to devote to board duties.
Board members thanked Bookholz for his service. One member said the board would rely on district staff to publicize the vacancy and accept applications; another urged following the policy preference to appoint someone from the same zone when possible. The board discussed timelines and legal-notice requirements for posting applications and agreed interviews would be held in open session with the appointment and vote also taken publicly.
The board did not take formal action to appoint a replacement at the meeting. Members asked staff to prepare a public posting and timeline so the board can interview applicants and make a selection before the term end where feasible.
