Ottawa County proposes $243M FY2027 budget after CMH shift; staff assumes 6% taxable growth

"So as it plays out it's broken out into the four different carry categories... but it has moved from 305,000,000 to 243,000,000," the presenter said. Staff listed key assumptions: taxable value growth of 6%, a consumer price index assumption of 3.5%, a 3% health insurance increase effective 01/01/2027, and noted a roughly 15% pension cost increase year over year tied to the base pension obligations and CMH departure. The calendar for the budget process includes an Aug. 25 public hearing, a finance-committee recommendation on Sept. 15, and anticipated adoption on Sept. 22.
