Police chief reports quarterly stats; department clarifies noncooperation with ICE and swears in new officer

Police Chief Jason Wu presented the department's quarterly report, saying the department handled 801 incidents during the quarter, including two Part I offenses, nine Part II offenses and 790 other incidents. Chief Jason also reported 13 RIPA-detained contacts (9 officer-initiated), of which nine resulted in warnings, two in citations and one in an arrest.
Chief Jason responded to a public question about ICE enforcement policy, saying state law governs local participation. "It is not our our job," he said, adding "In fact, we're prohibited by law to assist ICE, in immigration enforcements." The exchange arose after a resident raised concerns following high-profile national incidents.
The department also introduced Officer Tyler Preston and swore him in. Chief Jason presented Preston's background — corrections experience in Connecticut and patrol experience with Mill Valley PD — and invited Preston and his family forward for the oath.
