Staff told the committee they have audited IT accounts and identified large recurring device and service charges; short-term savings can come from pruning unused services and suspending devices while the city assesses need. The committee was told the RFP for managed IT services is active: site visits must be completed by Aug. 14 and the RFP opens Aug. 28.
Committee members noted monthly device fees can range significantly and that switching to an a la carte approach for needed add-ons could yield large multi-year savings. Staff said they will continue device inventory work and report back as vendor responses come in.
