Staff updated the committee that beach renourishment began in earnest July 27 and crews have placed roughly 157,000 cubic yards of sand to date, concentrated around Station 296 near Summer House. "Renourishment began in earnest on the July 27 to date is put out 157,000 cubic yards of sand," staff said while reviewing maps showing the construction footprint and sand-fencing limits.
Staff warned that the construction "front" and "back" fences move as the contractor advances, which will shrink the publicly accessible front-beach area in some reaches. Sandbag removal and excavation will further constrain access during some phases; staff said they will forecast closures and coordinate messaging and path routing to preserve access where possible.
