Public works reports water-main repairs, tower cleaning and asset-management certification

Trustee Chaimalabi reported that Broadview Public Works responded to several water-main breaks across the village and completed repairs to limit service interruptions; she listed affected blocks and said residents were notified by public notices and door-to-door contact.
"This includes 2219 South 8, 2219 South 18th Avenue, 2223 hundred blocks of 18th Avenue, 20th and Central, 24 and 2900 blocks of South 13th, and 2100 South 16th Avenue," Trustee Chaimalabi said when describing the repairs and the department's response. She also told the board that the water tower was drained, cleaned and disinfected, that water samples were collected and cleared by the laboratory, and that water meter inspections are ongoing for residents with potentially faulty meters.
The trustee noted that on July 9 Broadview's water department "received this participation certification from the Build Up Cook Asset Management Planning Cohort," a program intended to help document assets and plan long-term infrastructure investments.
