Jason Howie, chief facilities officer, answered technical questions from board members about modular construction and booster engagement. He explained the concession and restroom units will be constructed off-site and set on a permanent foundation (not the temporary mobile classroom type), and staff plan to coordinate with booster groups and student programs for input and involvement during construction. Howie said students in vocational programs (boots/EPIC) will be integrated into parts of the work where appropriate. "Technically, when we construct a facility off-site and bring it and place it, it is considered modular... This will be set on a foundation," Howie said.
Board members asked about design coordination with boosters and team-room integration; Howie said those conversations will occur as the design develops. Both contract approvals were recorded as passing with six votes in favor and one absent member.
