Broadview OKs new police audio-video system, chief says state requires recordings

The Village of Broadview approved a purchase order of $22,511.67 for Mercury Systems Corporation to buy a new audio-and-video recording system for the police investigations bureau.
Chief Mills described the procurement as an equipment replacement after the department's 2017 system "had outlived its purpose" and could no longer be serviced. "This is a new audio and video recording system for the investigations bureau," Chief Mills said, saying the system is required when the department conducts interviews in certain types of offenses and that recordings are provided to the state's attorney's office.
Trustees asked no substantive questions before the roll call; the clerk recorded the approval as carrying in favor (recorded as 4 to 0 at the vote). The purchase was included in the department's current budget, Chief Mills told the board.
