District briefed on $168,625 plan to replace Thompson Middle School PA system

Facilities staff reported Thompson Middle School needs a full replacement of its public-address system because the existing equipment is outdated. Theo Dillingham told the Board the new system would upgrade audio across 175 locations with network-based equipment and include timekeeping hardware such as clocks or speakers.
"The PA system at Thompson Middle School is in need of a full replacement due to its outdated technology," Theo Dillingham said, presenting a $168,625 proposal that he said breaks down to $104,250 for Graybar equipment and $64,375 for installation by Structured Technologies. Dillingham noted the equipment purchase would be made through the OMNIA purchasing cooperative and answered questions from Board members about scope and maintenance.
Superintendent Dr. R. Roberts said General Funds would be used and that the item will appear on the Consent Agenda at the Oct. 15 action meeting.
