Mrs. Nichols told the board the Consolidated Application must be submitted to the Michigan Department of Education to secure anticipated federal funding. She outlined line-item allocations in the materials: Title I (Improving Basic Programs) $9,536,460; Title II (Supporting Effective Instruction) $547,328; Title III (Language Instruction for English Learners) $15,342; Title IV (Student Support and Academic Enrichment) $633,302; and a Parent Engagement allocation of $95,349. She also listed administrative and program costs (administration $4,200; supplies $1,500; training and conferences $16,590) and said the district estimates about $7,000,000 in 31a at‑risk allocations and a carryover of $1,999,783.
Mrs. Nichols requested board approval of the carryover and amendment budgets along with the 31A and State budgets and indicated the item will appear on the Consent Agenda at the Sept. 25 Action meeting. The briefing materials included an entry of $8,999,000,783 as a requested amount; that figure appears inconsistent with other figures presented and may be a typographical error in the materials. The board asked follow-up questions and Mrs. Nichols answered them; no final vote occurred at the briefing session.
