The board voted to accept a $50,000 capital award from Alameda County (Supervisor Halberts office) to survey district flood vulnerabilities and plan temporary flood barriers or other mitigation steps. Superintendent Shay said the funding will allow the district to hire a company to map "pain points" for flooding and recommend temporary barriers the district could deploy during storms.
Trustees raised contract-language concerns about nondisclosure, publicity and indemnification clauses and asked staff to seek clarifications from the county so the agreement aligns with public-records obligations and the districts needs. The board approved accepting the grant subject to those clarifications.
