Council introduced Ordinance 551 for first reading to amend Title 15 (Chapter 15.04) and remove fixed building‑permit fee provisions from the municipal code. Staff told council that the existing fee schedule has not been updated for roughly 15 years and moving fee amounts into a resolution would allow staff and council to update charges more nimbly.
"My intention is to have a resolution with that for you to adopt updates because they have not been updated for 15 years," staff said, describing plans to return for a second reading and for the council to adopt updated fees by resolution. Councilmember Elise Scafani moved to introduce by title only; the motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote.
Staff asked for feedback and said they will return with a draft resolution and a 2nd reading.
