New emergency-services director Britney Lewis outlines CERT, trainings and grant for resiliency core

"My name is Britney Lewis. I'm the newly promoted, director of the office of emergency services," Britney Lewis (S9) told commissioners as she introduced herself and offered training bulletins and contact information for her office. She said the office is pivoting to restart defunct programs and focus on wildland capability and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team).
Lewis announced the office had been notified of a significant grant award from California Volunteers to create a new resiliency core focused on all-hazards response and fuels reduction; she said award notices have been received but the awards themselves had not yet been handed out. "We were also recently awarded a very large grant from the California volunteers and with the focus of creating a new resiliency core that has an all hazards response capability," she said. Lewis invited commissioners to coordinate on training and to share the office's training calendar for joint outreach.
Commissioners welcomed the emphasis on CERT and requested quarterly check-ins to coordinate local training and community outreach for the safety fair and neighborhood events.
