Plevna operator seeks grant planning and flags training cost overrun

Sam Thielen, the town’s backup water/wastewater operator, briefed the council on system needs and potential funding opportunities during the Jan. 13 meeting. He reported that new meters are arriving, lagoon grant bidding is underway, and Rylan with Brosz asked to review the sewer-line report to consider replacement planning and a Planning, Engineering and Right-of-Way (PER) grant application.
Sam also noted repairs are planned for Well No. 2 and the chlorination system, that system-mapping work is scheduled for summer, and a wastewater training school in March will cost roughly $1,000. "Sam estimates his Wastewater School will roughly cost $1,000 which will slightly exceed the set budget amount," the minutes state. He asked whether future training could be included as part of upcoming grant applications.
Councilmembers discussed grant opportunities including the Super Connector grant tied to the new power line route through counties. No formal direction or vote was recorded; the council accepted the report and clerks were asked to continue coordinating documentation for grants.
