Town to install 24 new digital water meters to improve reads and reduce loss

Water/Wastewater Operator Samuel (Sam) Thielen told the council, “The Town has received 24 new meters and 24 control boxes.” He said the new meters fit where the old meters were and require only a simple wiring change to install.
Thielen said the meters have no moving parts, provide digital readings, and the transmitters reach roughly a three-block radius, which will reduce time spent collecting reads. He noted that larger meters could take as long as 48 months to arrive. Council members said they expect the new equipment to improve meter accuracy and help reduce water loss.
