Councilman Kyle Vennes moved and Councilwoman Promise Miller seconded a motion to proceed with planning a town celebration to take place on July 19, 2025; the motion carried unanimously.
Councilwoman Miller said the event — tentatively called the Plevna Jamboree — would aim to showcase early-1900s town life (1909), with possible demonstrations such as blacksmithing, sheep shearing, wagon rides and a street meal. Organizers estimated a budget of roughly $5,000 to $10,000 and discussed seeking sponsor support and visitor grants in the spring to offset costs.
Council members also discussed potential event sites (a lot across from Plevna Park and a grassy area near the volleyball court) and local partners such as the Plevna FFA for demonstrations. No funding appropriation was made at the meeting; the vote authorized forming a planning effort and pursuing grants and sponsors.
