Superintendent Magee highlights May events, financial-system transition and Green Ribbon award

Superintendent Nancy Magee used her May 7 remarks to recognize teachers, paraeducators, site leaders and classified staff and to update trustees on several calendar and operational items.
Magee noted May is Teacher Appreciation and Classified Employee Appreciation Month and reminded trustees that the SMCOE End of School Year Celebration will be held May 21 at Gateway; the same date also includes the Volunteer and Recognition Event at that evening's board meeting and Dawdy Photography will take group photos. She thanked site leaders and staff for their work on behalf of students.
On operations, Magee reported the Business Services Division completed user training for a new financial system and is working toward full implementation by July 1. She also told the board the County Office hosted the Green Ribbon Awards Ceremony the prior Wednesday and earned the highest statewide score, a recognition Magee said reflected broad cross-department collaboration.
No board action was required on the superintendent's remarks; the board was reminded of the next meeting and upcoming events.
