Superintendent Nancy Magee reported on county office activities at the Feb. 19 meeting, including a Partnerships in Education event and a bid to become a regional PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Technical Assistance Center.
Magee said the Partnerships in Education event, led by Rubie Macaraeg and Mary McGrath, drew roughly 230 attendees and focused on using the United for Youth Vision 2030 to support young people’s mental health. Magee also announced SMCOE submitted a regional PBIS Technical Assistance Center bid to lead PBIS work across five Bay Area counties and that SMCOE was named one of two finalists for that role. She credited Greg Fry for leadership on the PBIS effort.
Magee noted many County Office leaders were attending the statewide Curriculum and Instruction Steering Committee conference in Anaheim and that SMCOE will lead the conference next year. The items were presented as informational updates; no Board vote was required.
