Police report: 62 calls, SRO contract finalized; six new officers in process

A police representative (S11) told the council there were about 62 calls for service since the prior meeting, including one DUI arrest and several warrants. The traffic unit has been focusing enforcement on distracted driving along Highway 89, S11 said.
S11 said the school resource officer (SRO) contract with the Weber School District was finalized and disseminated; this year’s cost split is 80/20 with the district and will increase by 5% each year until the district pays the full FTE cost. The department also added six new officers as of July 1 and is working through uniform and equipment procurement; S11 noted vehicle deliveries are delayed due to manufacturer supply issues.
S11 described active‑shooter/active‑threat training conducted in county schools this month; the enforcement bureau has run multiple four‑hour sessions and will continue to schedule further trainings to reach all staff.
