Board honors outgoing member Hector Camacho Jr.; adopts resolution

The San Mateo County Board of Education adopted Joint Resolution No. 25-9 on Feb. 19 to honor former Board Member Hector Camacho Jr. for his 11 years of service.
Superintendent Nancy Magee highlighted Camacho’s contributions to the Board; David Burruto appeared on behalf of Assemblymember Diane Papan and Senator Josh Becker to present a resolution and praise Camacho’s advocacy and work for equitable education. Several Board members — including Susan Alvaro, Beverly Gerard, Patricia Love and Chelsea Bonini — offered personal remarks about Camacho’s mentorship, meticulousness, and commitment to students. The Board approved the joint resolution by a vote of five in favor and one absent (O’Neill).
Following the resolution vote, the Board recessed at 7:41 p.m. for a reception honoring Camacho and resumed the public meeting at 7:56 p.m.
