Supermoto organizers urge contract reinstatement; staff cites FAA appraisal delay

Representatives of Shasta Supermoto told the council they have met city requirements for safety and insurance but have been unable to race since March because their contract has not been reinstated. They asked for a temporary reinstatement or a short-term rental so they can host a national AMA event and retain that partnership.
Sherry Kano and other Supermoto speakers emphasized their safety record and community role, saying the inability to race threatens national-level events and membership. In response, staff said negotiations are active but the FAA has required a second appraisal and review to confirm fair-market value for airport property uses; staff said further negotiation of non-appraisal lease terms is continuing but the appraisal process will take time.
Council members acknowledged the hardship for the Supermoto community and asked staff to continue working with FAA and airport management to identify interim options while appraisal and review are concluded.
