The Winn Parish Police Jury Personnel Committee on Dec. 19 discussed pay and staffing for the parish road department and confirmed plans for a leadership transition. Committee member Frank McLaren told the road crew that raises are scheduled to take effect in January and said the Jury expects high job performance following the increases.
Road Superintendent Perry Holmes, Assistant Road Superintendent Paul Hodnett and Backhoe Operator Gavin Snowden attended the meeting. Committee members agreed that Snowden will begin training to take the Road Superintendent position. The committee also asked Hodnett and Snowden to attend monthly committee meetings and provide reports on road operations and progress on the transition.
No formal ordinance or salary schedule was included in the minutes; the committee discussion recorded the timing (January) for raises but did not specify dollar amounts. The action recorded was a direction for the road employees to begin the succession process and to provide monthly updates to the Personnel Committee. The committee adopted its meeting agenda at the start of the session and adjourned at 4:46 p.m.
