Commission approves Farm Center change orders and signs courthouse substantial-completion resolution

County Attorney Phil Eldridge told commissioners that five approved change orders on the Farm Center renovation resulted in a net decrease of $53,866.02 from an original contract price of $2,571,258.00, yielding a final contract amount of $2,517,391.98. Commissioners voted 3-0 to approve the change orders and authorized Chairman Toby Seay to sign the necessary documents.
Eldridge also presented a certificate of substantial completion for the Courthouse renovation dated April 17, 2025 and asked the commission to allow the chairman to sign a resolution accepting substantial completion; Commissioner Bart Wilks moved, Commissioner Spivey seconded and the motion passed 3-0. Eldridge noted that construction change orders must be recommended by the architect and that legal guidance caps certain changes.
