Engineer reports L. Vaughn Road bridge reopened; FEMA pause noted on three bridge projects

County Engineer Justin Barfield told commissioners the L. Vaughn Road bridge reopened to traffic last week and that paperwork documenting completion has been submitted to the state. He also reported that the department received a FEMA notice to cease work on three bridges and that he had contacted State EMA for an update but had not received a reply.
Barfield said pre-construction activities for the MPO‑funded resurfacing of County Road 68 (from the county line to County Road 49) are complete, construction signs are in place and construction is expected to begin the following week; because the project uses federal funds, certified inspectors must be onsite and the county is coordinating ALDOT inspectors to cover inspection duties.
