The Board of Selectmen on Aug. 4 approved a $20,925 change order with BBB Industries Corp. to complete an accessible ramp and install granite pavers at the New Canaan Nature Center.
Public Works staff said crews discovered existing pavers were too deteriorated to reuse, so they will remove and replace them and restore the ramp landing to ADA standards. "We're looking for a approval to, for a change order, in the amount of $20,925," the Public Works presenter said, explaining the contractor has been responsive and accommodated nearby day camp traffic during construction.
Staff said an original contingency of $10,500 will be used and an additional $12,005.22 will be drawn from the project to cover the net increase; the manager will leave $2,100 in contingency for unexpected items. The board approved the change order unanimously and confirmed funds are available within the project budget.
