Selectmen approve internet, cybersecurity and licensing renewals totaling roughly $290,000

The board approved a LightPath contract for $163,560 to renew three internet circuits and align service with the phone system. IT staff said the arrangement should save nearly $24,000 overall compared with prior costs. The board also approved a $58,710.12 renewal with reseller VANDIS for three cybersecurity products (autonomous pen testing, MDR, and email security), a $56,640 renewal for VMware Cloud Foundation with Wally Computer Associates Inc., and a $12,126.64 desktop licensing renewal with SHI.
"Overall, the contract will save us almost $24,000," an IT presenter said of the LightPath renewal, noting increased competition in the market for circuits. The cybersecurity presenter described the products as monitoring internal and external traffic and scanning email to reduce risk.
All items passed unanimously. IT staff told the board these renewals are part of a planned multi-year approach to align telecom, phone, and security systems while remaining responsive to changing vendor offerings.
