Langley council OKs three sites for resilient microgrid feasibility studies

The Langley City Council on Nov. 17 approved recommendations to pursue full resilient microgrid feasibility studies at three community sites: St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, the South Whidbey Community Center and the Fire Station on Camano Ave. Director of Community Planning Meredith Penny presented the final list after community, commission, consultant and staff review of 15 candidate sites.
Councilmember Rhonda Salerno moved to approve the recommendations and Councilmember Gail Fleming seconded; the motion passed 4-0. Councilmembers asked staff to return with the feasibility study results and potential next steps if studies show favorable outcomes. The decision does not commit the city to construction; it authorizes targeted technical studies at the three listed locations.
